The memories of our senior citizens are a precious community resource. To reminisce is an important part of aging. Remembering life experiences and sharing them with others is a healthy experience for all involved.
The DCMA is pleased to offer reminiscence programs for seniors residences and nursing homes. Our trained staff will deliver a hands on program with 12 different subjects, a new one each month of the year. See the schedule below. Each program is geared to evoke a range of memories from bittersweet to laughter. Some programs are delivered in period costume. Our interpreters possess loud, clear voices. In a dignified manner, the programs often draw on memories of the very distant past.

Programs are approximately one hour in length. Available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only.

There will also be plenty of pictures to look at from our Archives to stimulate
a memory. Brrrrrrrr get the hot chocolate ready!

We will bring a large collection of Catalogues
dating from 1918 – 1980’s. Looking through these catalogues will bring back
many memories of years past. Checking out the fashions to garden equipment
always brings out a chuckle or two. We want to hear stories of mail order
shopping, good or bad.
|
Our costumed interpreter will arrive in costume
straight out of an 1860’s pioneer sugar bush. Just smell the air and you will
be catch the aroma of smoky fire and sweet maple. We will tell the story of a
day in the sugar bush through artifacts and pictures. Samples of syrup are
available upon request.
|
Hats, Hats, who doesn’t like to wear a hat? We
will supply a large collection of hats to be worn by all. Participants will be
asked to remember a story from their lives to match the hat. The collection
ranges from fancy Easter hats to band conductors hats. Join in the fun and
bring your own hat and story to go with it.
