Guidelines for Researchers

No briefcases, or other large bags are permitted in the archives.

Any photocopy that is made is to be used solely for the purpose of research or private study. Any use of a copy for a purpose other than research or private study may require the authorization of the copyright owner of the work in question. It is the researcher's responsibility to seek the proper authorization.

Use pencils only in the Reading Room. No pens or markers will be permitted.

No food or beverages are permitted. There is a lunch area on the main level and picnic facilities outside.

Researchers must use the provided cotton gloves when handling original documents.

Please use the Index Books on the Reading Room shelf as fully as possible before requesting original material.

Please return all items to the Archives service desk.

Photocopies of archival material made at discretion of Archive's staff. Abstract books and Copy books may not be photocopied.

Microfilm and fiche readers are on a "first come, first serve" basis. If you are traveling from a distance, please make an appointment. In busy periods, use of printers will be restricted to 30 minutes at a time.

There will be no retrieval of documents 15 minutes before closing.

Lockers are available for researchers. Please notify Archive's staff or reception if you require the use of one to receive a lock and key.
