Restoration
Following a year-long community-supported restoration project, this
beautifully simple rural Ontario church has been brought back to its original charming
state. The church's interior has been restored to reflect its appearance during the 1890s,
and features its once-again gleaming hardwood floor, colourful stained glass windows,
lofty arched ceiling, and decorative wrought-iron trimmed pews. At its new home, the
church overlooks the beautiful Mulmur hills, as well as the unique Dufferin County Museum
and Archives building and gardens.
Churches like Corbetton Methodist were once common in rural Ontario,
but many have sadly disappeared. An important symbol and reminder of the "lost"
structures, communities, and people of Dufferin's past now stands proudly atop the hill at
Highway 89 & Airport Road. Thanks to our community and supporters, the doors of the
former Corbetton Methodist Church are again open to the public.
