Learning with the Museum

The Dufferin County Museum and Archives is your community partner in education!

We believe that museums are important partners in the education system. Working alongside educators, museums provide meaningful learning experiences and programs to support in-school lesson objectives.

We offer three styles of program designed to enrich classroom studies:

* On-site museum programs provide students with the unique opportunity to experience their community's history and culture in a stimulating learning environment. Please phone for information and to book your school visit to the DCMA.
*
In-class or "road show"
programs are one hour presentations and discussions which take place in the classroom, at your school. Each participating student receives a complimentary day pass to the Museum and Archives to continue to explore his or her community history. Please phone for information and to book your school visit to the DCMA.
*
Educational Kits
are available for rent for in-classroom use. Kit rental includes a detailed teaching plan, worksheet and project activities, and museum artifacts for hands-on interaction.

Programs can be tailored to suit educators' needs. We also provide research resources to educators to assist in program development, using our extensive archival resources. Please contact us for more information.

A full list of program options is available on this web site. Please click on "Program Options" on the menu at the bottom of the screen.

General Booking Information

Please contact the DCMA to enquire how our staff can assist you in planning for an education program that is suited to your group's needs.

When calling or emailing to book a program, please be prepared with the following information: preferred date, arrival & departure times, expected number of students, desired program, teacher name, contact phone number, special needs students, and number of parent helpers joining the group. Assistants and bus drivers receive free admission to the museum.
