The 4-H and Junior Farmers Clubs of Dufferin have played an important part of growing up in Dufferin. Livestock clubs taught rural youth the skills of raising farm livestock, taught young people about competitions and were a social outlet for youth, allowing them the opportunity to meet other teenagers from other areas. Many a romance started at a calf show and ended in a husband and wife dairy operation. The day will include a special speaker at 2 pm who was involved with 4-H and Junior Farmers in the 1950s and 60s, and a special display of 4-H and Junior Farmers items held in the DCMA collection, including the sign from 1954 for the winner of the Queen’s Guineas, Helen Anderson of Mono.
Cost: Tickets $10 or $5 for DCMA members
