Opening reception: Sunday, June 24 @ 2pm

Special presentation by Linda on Sunday, July 8 @ 2pm

Join us for the opening of renowned local Amaranth artist and illustrator, Linda McLaren’s new art show A Life Spent in the Company of Animals”. Linda says, “The natural world has provided a lifelong inspiration for me and I am never happier than in the company of animals - from domestic farm animals to companion animals to the wild animals that inevitably weave their way through the woodlots, fence lines and streams. Art and animals strike sparks off each other!  The endless array of nature’s forms and personalities, the challenge of communicating some glimpsed corner of another being’s life seems always to be just beyond the capability of art materials and styles. Luckily, Dufferin County has also provided a vibrant artistic community from which I could learn. In some ways this show is a retrospective, reworking old themes such as the “Heritage Livestock” show that I did for the museum 10 years ago and the run of “Headwaters Sketchbook” pages which I was lucky to have in In the Hills magazine. There will be new work, too, because after 50 years in Headwaters country, I’m still exploring and learning about the plants and animals – yes, even the rocks – that share this place.” Works will range in media from acrylic on canvas to watercolour and pen & ink.
