Sarah Robinson, who is a graduate of the University of Guelph, Honours B.A. in history and currently at Algonquin College for the Applied Museum Studies program, is offering a three day course in basic museum conservation and handling of artifacts. Using the latest museum practices as well as time tested techniques you will learn how to care for books, textiles, glass, ceramics, silver and iron. Learn simple methods of protecting paper and photographs. This short introductory course is perfect for collectors, caretakers of family heirlooms and those who are interested in volunteering at a museum or archives. Assisted by Wayne Townsend, our Curator, and Laura Camilleri, from the Archives, you will gain knowledge that will increase the life of your valued objects and increase your enjoyment of them. Bring your lunch, time left from 3pm to 5pm each day to work on your own projects under our guidance. Please note: appraisals will not be offered at this event.
