SELF-GUIDED MUSEUM TOURS

Go your own way with a self-guided experience. Our admissions staff will orient you, then turn you loose to explore at your leisure.

This is a great option for small groups of 5-10 people. Self-guided group visits are welcome any time during open hours, so there is no need to book in advance.

GROUP VISITS

The MoD welcomes visits for groups with 6-60 persons. Museum staff will introduce you to our galleries, exhibitions and historic buildings, sharing local history and behind-the-scenes stories of the museum’s past and present. Exhibition spaces change frequently throughout the year, creating a different experience each time you visit.

Group visits must be booked at least seven (7) business days in advance by contacting info@dufferinmuseum.com or 519-941-1114.

Tour length: up to 1 hour with guide
Cost: $10.00 + HST per person
(Bus drivers and support persons are admitted free of charge)

GROUNDS TOURS

During your visit, take in the beauty of the Museum’s grounds with our self-directed walking tour. Use this tour to explore Dufferin County’s heritage, as told through the stories of objects located on the property.

Building Dufferin

This tour will take you around the MoD property to explore stories connected to the origins, growth and development of Dufferin County with a focus on construction and architecture.

Tour guidebooks are located at the gate just outside the museum entrance. A digital guidebook with audio can be accessed by scanning a QR code.

 

Interpretive Garden

Our interpretive garden is inspired by the Indigenous Peoples and Early Settlers of Dufferin County, whom relied on wild and cultivated plants for their survival and well-being. Our garden features 6 areas to explore including plants used historically for culinary, medicine, dyes, and pesticides.

Guidebooks are available at the garden entrance, near the ploughs.

Heritage Orchard

Our heritage orchard is home to 12 species of trees, some extremely rare. If you’ve never heard of a Bottle Greening, Ben Davis, or Maiden Blush, take the tour and discover the origin stories of these special trees.

Guide brochures for the apple orchard are located at the entrance to the orchard. A digital guidebook with audio can be accessed by scanning a QR code.
